LdM Florence is situated in the heart of Tuscany, a region that alone has more classified historical monuments than anywhere else in the world. As the birthplace of modern humanism, naturalistic arts and scientific inquiry, Florence is celebrated as the cradle of the Italian Renaissance. Recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site for its unique monuments and architecture, Florence has become the epitome of a global city, reflecting the world's diverse cultures, ethnicities, ideas, and forms of creativity, while remaining faithful to its strong artistic tradition.
3-6 credits (one or two courses). Students have the flexibility to choose from courses in four academic areas: School of Italian Language & Culture, School of Arts & Sciences, School of Creative Arts, and School of Design. No previous knowledge of the Italian language is required (most courses are taught in English). Lorenzo de'Medici is accredited by the U.S. Middle States Commission on Higher Education as a Branch Campus of Marist College.
Students live in shared apartments organized through LdM. Apartments are furnished and usually consist of 2-4 double-occupancy bedrooms, a living area, kitchen and bathroom. Bed linens and access to a washing machine are provided in apartments. WiFi access is available in all apartments and utilities are included in the program cost. Please note that excessive use of utilities (over $75) will result in additional fees that will be charged to the student. Apartments are typically within walking distance of the school facilities. Students pay a $300 refundable housing deposit that is returned to students after the end of the term if no damages occur to the apartment.
Included is academic credit (3-6 credits), housing, international health insurance, and orientation. Additional costs include airfare, local transportation, meals, passport fees, personal expenses, housing deposit, any additional class fees, and the International & Off-Campus Study administrative fee (currently $50 for Winterim).
Winterim 2020 Costs (students pay SU)
Payment is due by SU Winterim/Spring payment deadlines in mid-December.
NOTE: All costs are subject to change. The SU in Italy program fee is not based on SU tuition rates and thus there is no Winterim tuition waiver or SU Winterim fee -- students are charged the stated rate (which includes tuition) for the term of their participation.
